Health Canada permits overlooked in drug bust. Two middle-aged men were arrested yesterday at an Okanagan Falls, BC property, following a raid by the Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force, which was essentially a search warrant.
RC’s seized roughly 200 ganja plants they say resembled “small Christmas trees as opposed to mere plants”, evidently due to advanced grow methods. The plants belonged to three individuals, all of which possess a license distributed by Health Canada to grow and possess marihuana at the specific location. The two men arrested at the scene, however, had no permits.
Police also found 30 lbs of drying ganja as well as a loaded .357 Magnum handgun and 30/30 calibre rifle. The two men aged 39 and 40, are facing 4 charges related to possession of controlled substances as well as firearms. Their court date is set for April.

“…as well as a loaded .357 Magnum handgun and 30/30 calibre rifle. The two men aged 39 and 40, are facing 4 charges related to possession of controlled substances as well as firearms.”
I bet the cops raided because of the weapons not the weed.
This is a harmless plant caught up in harmful prohibition. Let the medicine grow. Sounds like a lot of people could have had their legal prescriptions filled from the confiscated ganja, perhaps at a reduced cost? Perhaps these strains could have been given to Health Canada or other legal growers to ensure strong phenotypes, history and/or product? Perhaps get first-timers set-up? ..If illegitimate busts are going to be made, at least SOMEONE could be helped other than the RC’s with their media coverage… you know like the people who really need it. Imagine, “RCMP is awarded for providing countless Canadian citizens with medical marijuana free of charge, improving the quality of life for hundreds, and keeping sick and struggling citizens out of debt.”… What a wonderful world this could be.
